The Glencore 2025 Industrial Placement Programme Designed to accelerate your career in the commodities trading, technology, engineering, or environmental science spheres, this 12 month programme gives talented undergraduates exposure to the world-class people and careers on offer at Glencore. This is a fast-paced placement in our London office. You will be given your own areas of responsibility and have the opportunity to contribute to the work of the business from day one. By the end of the programme, you will have developed strong skills in your chosen function. You will also be equipped with the highest level of professionalism, personal ownership and commercial aptitude skills that are essential to future careers at Glencore. Industrial placement students may be able to return as full-time team members on our Graduate Programme upon completing their studies, depending on performance and business requirements. The Product Risk Placement The Glencore Risk Department is an independent function aiming to control front-line trading and ensure that the risk-reward of the trading books is properly understood by Glencore senior management and that the physical exposure of the business e.g. Oil Cargoes, Electricity Generation, Gas Deliveries is correctly valued. You will learn how to understand complex financial transactions, including the flow of physical commodities across the world. You will calculate and run frequent risk reports, as well as assist in the development of new systems and processes. You will also learn how to communicate your results effectively with traders, managers, and team members. Key requirements: Highly numerate, with good problem-solving and analytical skills Good communication skills must be able to understand others perspectives and relate complex ideas to different groups Must be able to work flexibly within a team Must be capable of working autonomously, and to tight deadlines Coding skills in VBA, Python and Excel advantageous Who we look for We are looking for driven, talented undergraduate students who are interested in an exciting, challenging career in the commodities sector. Working at Glencore requires commercial awareness, adaptability and resilience and you will need to thrive in team environments as well as take initiative independently. We look for disciplined people who can demonstrate entrepreneurial ability, thrive on logistical challenges and can provide practical solutions to complex problems using their numerical capabilities. You must be studying a degree with a year in industry, and successful candidates need to be available to start their placements in July 2025.
