The BIM coordinator role will have the primary responsibility of supporting the BIM delivery on the allocated projects and assisting the design management team with efficient use of 3D models and BIM data in meetings and workshops. The role ensures that information is produced, coordinated, managed, and exchanged in a controlled, compliant, and commercially effective manner in line with project requirements and ISO 19650:2. The BIM coordinator will, where required, support and coordinate with the consultant BIM Manager and be heavily involved with the project team and subcontractors. The role will support both the preconstruction and operational functions within Glencar as there will be involvement with tenders as well as project delivery and offer support to the Digital Lead to help deliver the wider BIM Strategy.

Location
The role will be mostly site and office based and may require travel around the Southern region on a regular basis. Primary Office St Albans.

Structure
The role will report to and be managed by the Digital Lead but will work closely with project teams and Design Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • BIM Strategy and Governance
    Ensure alignment with Employer’s Information Requirements (EIR) and contractual obligations. Provide a monthly report/dashboard representing progress on your allocated projects (ACC).
  • Information Management and CDE Oversight
    Work with Doc Control to manage and govern the project Common Data Environment (CDE). Define workflows for information exchange, review, approval, and status codes. Ensure robust version control, traceability, and auditability of project information. Monitor information quality and consistency across all disciplines and supply chain partners.
  • Design Coordination and Model Management
    Lead multi-disciplinary model coordination across all project models. Oversee or assist consultant with clash detection, coordination reviews, and issue resolution processes. Ensure that design risks are identified early and mitigated through model-based coordination. Maintain a federated project model for review and decision-making. Assist the project team with the use of BIM process and allow added value in design workshops.
  • Construction Integration and Digital Delivery
    Integrate BIM processes with construction planning, sequencing, and logistics – (4D). Enable constructability reviews and digital rehearsals for complex construction activities. Work closely with site teams to embed model-based working into construction delivery.
  • Supply Chain and Stakeholder Management
    Assess supply chain BIM capability and provide technical guidance where necessary. Report on the status of capability throughout the project and in line with ISO19650:2. Facilitate collaborative working across all project stakeholders.
  • Training and Support
    Offer help and support to those using ACC Build and collaborate. Assist with 3D viewer training on a project basis. Conduct or review formal model reviews at key project milestones. Promote best practice in model-based working across the organization.
  • Digital Tools and Innovation
    Drive continuous improvement in digital delivery processes. Support automation, data extraction, and reporting from and meeting outputs. Maintain awareness of industry developments and emerging digital technologies.
  • Compliance, Reporting, and Assurance
    Support the production and maintenance of the BIM Execution Plan (BEP). Conduct regular BIM compliance audits on projects. Support client digital assurance processes and audits as indicated in project EIR.
  • Handover and Asset Information
    Define and manage requirements for as-built information and asset data. Coordinate the delivery of as-built models and structured asset information. Support the creation of asset information models (AIM) and digital twins where applicable. Ensure information is suitable for integration with facilities management systems.
