Gleeson Homes are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Business Partner to support our regional business units as part of our HR team. This role is pivotal in shaping a positive and high performing employee experience across the regional offices, sales and site environments. Working closely with Regional Directors, operational leaders and the wider HR function, including Recruitment, L&D and Payroll, you will deliver both strategic and operational people support aligned to business objectives and Gleeson values. A visible presence in the region is essential, and you will spend time across our offices and live developments to build strong relationships and coach managers on all people matters.
Please note: This is a regional role covering Greater Manchester & Merseyside, based in Rochdale, Cumbria based in Penrith, and Yorkshire South & West based in Leeds. We welcome applications from individuals based within or near these regions who can travel confidently across all locations as required.
Main Responsibilities- Strategic HR Partnership
- Act as a trusted business partner to Regional Directors and leadership teams, shaping the regional people solution to optimise business potential.
- Drive the delivery of the regional people plan aligned to business goals.
- Use people analytics to produce reports, identify trends, risks and opportunities and drive continuous improvement.
- Support workforce planning and organisational design discussions.
- Champion company culture, values and engagement activity within the region.
- Employee Relations & Leadership Coaching
- Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant outcomes.
- Coach and develop managers to build people leadership capability.
- Support the Head of Operational HR on sensitive or high-risk cases.
- Promote early intervention and proactive management to reduce formal processes.
- Provide HR support in the form of operational advice and administrative processing, to all employees on key policies and procedures required within the employment relationship.
- Recruitment & Resourcing
- Work closely with the internal recruitment team to ensure effective regional resourcing.
- Support hiring managers in workforce planning and capability requirements, including senior or business-critical hiring where needed.
- Training, Performance & Development
- Partner with the L&D team to identify training needs and support implementation of development plans.
- Lead regional succession planning and talent mapping exercises.
- Play an active role in apprenticeships, graduate schemes and early-career pathways within the region and working in collaboration with the Early Talent Coordinator.
- Support the performance management cycle and drive a culture of continuous feedback.
- Deliver HR training within the region.
- Change & Culture Initiatives
- Support organisational change projects, restructures and engagement initiatives.
- Promote wellbeing, inclusion and positive employee experience.
- Promote the Gleeson values, promoting best practice and a culture of high performance.
- Serve as a visible ambassador for the HR function across all regional locations.
- Passionate about people and the value HR brings to a fast-paced operational environment. Collaborative, flexible and comfortable working as part of a regionalised Business Partner model.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a generalist HR role, ideally within a HR Business Partner or Senior Advisor capacity. CIPD Level 5 qualified (or working towards), or equivalent experience.
- Strong ER experience with the confidence to coach managers.
- Full UK driving license.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Able to influence, challenge and partner with managers at all levels.
- Comfortable working autonomously and managing regional travel requirements.
