About the Role:

Gleeson recruitment are working with a business in Oakham that are looking for a highly motivated and adaptable Assistant Management Accountant to join their busy finance team. This is a full-time, office-based role, ideal for someone with strong foundation of accounting knowledge and a desire to grow their career within a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support the preparation of accurate and timely financial information and play a key role in managing queries from the Purchase Ledger team. This position offers excellent development opportunities and full study support towards a recognised professional qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and journals
  • Supporting the budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Conducting detailed variance analysis and providing commentary
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Handling day-to-day queries from the Purchase Ledger team with professionalism and efficiency
  • Contributing to improvements in processes and financial controls
  • Assisting with audit preparation and responding to auditor queries
  • Carrying out ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required

Person Specification:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (essential)
  • AAT qualified or actively studying towards ACCA/CIMA (study support provided)
  • Experience in a similar finance role, ideally in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Excel and accounting systems
  • Adaptable, proactive, and able to manage changing priorities
