Shift Pattern: Mon – Fri 6pm- 4am
About the Role
A leading UK logistics and distribution business specialising in the General Haulage/ Pallet Network sectors, are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Transport Planning Supervisor to join the team in Trafford Park.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior transport planner or supervisor ready to step up, with responsibility for leading and supporting a team of planners, ensuring daily operations are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support the transport planning team, providing leadership, coaching, and guidance.
- Oversee the planning of daily routes, driver allocation, and scheduling to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Monitor compliance with transport legislation, driver hours, and Working Time Directive.
- Ensure high levels of customer service by managing client expectations and resolving issues promptly.
- Drive continuous improvement in transport planning processes to reduce costs and improve service.
- Liaise with drivers, warehouse teams, and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
- Report on KPIs, productivity, and performance to senior management.
- Cover planning duties when required to support the team.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in transport planning, with supervisory/team leader experience (essential).
- Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation, compliance, and driver regulations.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective leadership and people management skills.
- Strong IT skills, including transport planning systems and MS Office.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels.
