The Role

The Operations Manager will oversee all operational activity within the distribution centre, ensuring efficiency, safety and high-quality service delivery. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving performance, improving processes, and supporting the wider business as it continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all operational functions with full accountability for cost control, productivity, and service performance.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, using Lean methodologies to enhance efficiency and eliminate waste.

  • Promote and maintain a strong, proactive safety culture while ensuring full regulatory compliance.

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration and ensure operational flexibility to meet customer expectations.

  • Support, develop and coach team members, promoting a positive and high-performing culture.

  • Ensure stock accuracy and smooth coordination across warehousing, delivery, and customer service teams.

  • Analyse operational data, creating actionable insights to influence decision-making.

  • Produce performance reports and operational updates for senior management.

  • Support the rollout and adoption of new systems, technologies, and processes.

  • Encourage accountability, teamwork, and communication across all departments.

  • Address performance issues, resolve conflicts and manage challenging conversations effectively.

  • Respond quickly and effectively to changing operational demands.

  • Maintain high standards of quality, product condition, security, and presentation.

  • Work closely with customer service and sales teams to resolve order or delivery queries promptly.

  • Demonstrate flexibility during peak periods, supporting extended hours where required.

About You

  • At least 5 years\’ experience in an operational management role, ideally within FMCG, distribution, or a similar fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communicator who can build positive relationships across all levels of the organisation.

  • Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise effectively in a dynamic setting.

  • Strong analytical mindset with experience turning data into operational decisions.

  • Skilled in leadership, planning, and problem-solving.

  • Proficient in ERP and Warehouse Management Systems, with experience supporting the introduction of new technologies.

  • Resilient, adaptable, and confident managing both people and processes.

  • Demonstrated experience in recruitment, coaching and team development.
