Are you an experienced transport leader ready to take ownership of a major overnight operation at one of the West Midlands’ largest parcels hubs? We’re recruiting for a Night Transport Manager to run a high-volume, fast-paced hub-and-spoke operation at the heart of a national delivery network.
The Role
As Night Transport Manager, you’ll take full responsibility for the overnight transport operation, ensuring the smooth, compliant, and efficient movement of freight across the network. You’ll lead and support a large-scale transport team, including:
- Management of 100+ professional drivers
- Supervision of a supporting team of managers and coordinators
- Leadership of a time-critical, performance-driven transport function
- Ensuring legal compliance, service quality, and operational excellence
Your shift runs from Monday evening through to early Friday morning (approx. 7/8 PM to 4 AM), aligning with the hub’s peak operating window.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and develop a large driver workforce and night-shift management team
- Oversee all night transport activities across collection, trunking, and delivery operations
- Ensure compliance with all transport legislation and company safety procedures
- Manage the movement of freight across a national depot network
- Maintain service levels within a demanding parcels environment
- Drive continuous improvement, efficiency, and high standards of communication
About You
We’re looking for a confident, experienced transport professional with:
- Strong transport management experience
- Proven leadership in a parcels hub or large-scale logistics environment
- Excellent communication and people-management skills
- Deep understanding of hub and spoke operations
- Knowledge of customer collection processes and delivery depot networks
- Comfort working permanent nights (previous night shift experience preferred)
