Your role as Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance Officer involves ensuring consistent and high-quality delivery of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) processes. Acting as a central point of contact for employees, the role supports a safe, healthy and sustainable working environment by maintaining high compliance standards and providing a responsive, people-centred service.

The successful candidate will be proactive, detail-focused, and solutions-oriented, with an understanding of statutory requirements and a commitment to best practice.

Your duties and responsibilities:

  • Health, Safety and Environmental Management: Manage and maintain compliance with Health & Safety (ISO 45001), Environmental (ISO 14001), and Energy (ISO 50001) management standards. Conduct regular audits and inspections across all aspects of HSEQ to ensure ongoing compliance, continuous improvement, and safe working environments. Ensure global compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, providing advice and updates as required. Coordinate and facilitate assessments for home and blended workers to ensure safe remote working environments.
  • Risk and Incident Management: Design and implement effective procedures for Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), including permit-to-work processes. Create and deliver an audit regime for the RAMS process to ensure safe practices are maintained, acting as a point of escalation for high-risk activities. Maintain a global FM and H&S risk register, ensuring risks are monitored and updated. Develop and maintain serious incident protocols and support investigations and follow-up in line with RIDDOR requirements.
  • Training and Awareness: Support and advise teams across the organisation, promoting safe practices and delivering relevant HSEQ training. Contribute to the development and implementation of employee learning resources and awareness campaigns to embed best practice. Arrange and maintain appropriate HSE notices for office and remote locations.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Define and maintain H&S performance metrics and reporting processes. Prepare and deliver performance reports for leadership audiences, including the Board and senior executives. Monitor the organisation's carbon footprint and support progress towards ESG goals through data and insight. Assist in internal audits and ensure departments are following approved procedures.
  • Operational Support: Act as a key point of contact for day-to-day global HSEQ queries, offering guidance and ensuring excellent customer service. Complete HSEQ questionnaires and support external audits as required. Work collaboratively with the Workplace Manager and teams across the organisation to deliver safe and compliant environments.

To be successful in your role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • Understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality (HSEQ) practices, with experience applying them in a workplace setting.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and environmental management standards (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001).
  • Relevant health and safety training or certification, such as NEBOSH, NCRQ Diploma, or IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Experience supporting or conducting audits, or contributing to the implementation of management systems.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint) to communicate and manage information.
  • Ability to explain information clearly and build good working relationships with colleagues across different teams.
  • Organised and adaptable, with an interest in learning and improving how things are done.
  • Open to occasional travel if needed.
