Gleeson Recruitment Group are working exclusively in partnership with one of the leading manufacturing businesses in the region, who are looking to appoint a new Financial Controller. This business has experienced unprecedented growth in recent years, with revenues increasing by 40% since 2023. Key responsibilities of the role:
- Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Ensure all statutory reporting and regulatory filings are completed accurately and on time.
- Liaise with external auditors during annual audits, ensuring full cooperation and provision of all necessary documentation.
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
- Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with departmental heads to develop accurate, realistic, and achievable budgets.
- Develop rolling forecasts and financial models to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Analyse variances between actuals, budget, and forecast; provide actionable insights and recommendations.
- Cost Control & Margin Analysis
- Oversee cost accounting activities, including standard cost setting, variance analysis, and product profitability.
- Monitor manufacturing costs, overheads, and inventory valuations to ensure accuracy and identify areas for cost improvement.
- Provide detailed margin analysis to support pricing strategies and operational efficiency.
- Cash Flow Management
- Manage the company's cash flow to ensure optimal liquidity for operations, investments, and strategic initiatives.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and funding requirements; oversee working capital management including receivables, payables, and inventory.
- Internal Controls & Risk Management
- Design, implement, and maintain robust internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Identify financial and operational risks; implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, corporate governance standards, and industry regulations.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Manage, mentor, and develop a finance team, promoting a high-performance culture and continuous professional development.
- Set clear performance objectives, conduct regular reviews, and provide coaching and feedback.
- Foster cross-departmental collaboration to enhance financial awareness and accountability across the business.
- ERP Systems & Process Improvement
- Maintain and optimise financial systems (e.g., ERP, BI tools), ensuring they meet reporting and operational needs.
- Drive process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities.
- Act as a key finance lead on systems upgrades, integrations, or implementation projects.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Proven working experience as a Financial Controller in a Manufacturing environment
- Accountancy qualification required - ACA, ACCA or CIMA
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with creating financial statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
