About the Role:
Gleeson recruitment are working with a business in Oakham that are looking for a highly motivated and adaptable Assistant Management Accountant to join their busy finance team. This is a full-time, office-based role, ideal for someone with strong foundational accounting knowledge and a desire to grow their career within a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support the preparation of accurate and timely financial information and play a key role in managing queries from the Purchase Ledger team. This position offers excellent development opportunities and full study support towards a recognised professional qualification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and journals
- Supporting the budgeting and forecasting processes
- Conducting detailed variance analysis and providing commentary
- Reconciling balance sheet accounts and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
- Handling day-to-day queries from the Purchase Ledger team with professionalism and efficiency
- Contributing to improvements in processes and financial controls
- Assisting with audit preparation and responding to auditor queries
- Carrying out ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required
Person Specification:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (essential)
- AAT qualified or actively studying towards ACCA/CIMA (study support provided)
- Experience in a similar finance role, ideally in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Excel and accounting systems
