Greenwell Gleeson are working exclusively with an organisation based just on the outskirts of Birmingham who are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance Manager to join their dynamic team at a well‑established private school. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in managing the school's finances and supporting its continued growth and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and management of the school's annual budget and financial forecasts
  • Produce monthly management accounts and financial reports for senior leadership and governors
  • Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations, including payroll, purchasing and cash flow management
  • Manage the billing and collection of school fees and monitor debtor balances
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards and internal policies
  • Liaise with auditors and manage year‑end accounts and statutory reporting
  • Develop and maintain strong financial controls and procedures
  • Manage and support finance team members

About You

  • Professionally qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or qualified by experience
  • Experienced in financial management, ideally within education or a similar environment
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail
  • A confident communicator, able to present financial information clearly
  • Proficient in financial systems and Excel
  • Able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in a fee‑paying school or similar organisation
  • Knowledge of VAT, payroll and pensions
  • Experience working with governors or trustees
