Gleeds is seeking experienced an Senior Quantity Surveyorto join our expanding team supporting the delivery of major nuclear decommissioning projects that are critical to safely managing the UK’s legacy facilities. These complex programmes play a vital role in ensuring environmental protection, public safety, and the responsible clean-up of nuclear sites, contributing to the UK’s long-term sustainability and energy transition.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing the commercial and contractual aspects of complex packages of work. You will be responsible for cost management, contract administration, change control, and supporting procurement and commercial strategy development. Working within a multi-disciplinary project team, you will liaise closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and clients to ensure commercial performance, risk mitigation, and value delivery across the lifecycle of the projects.

Your day-to-day might involve:

  • Overseeing the full contract lifecycle, from pre-contract activities such as tender assessments through to post-contract commercial management.
  • Working with NEC contracts (Options A, B, C, and E) and tailored/bespoke contract arrangements.
  • Managing early warning notices, including drafting, issuing, and reviewing.
  • Preparing and evaluating Compensation Events, including pricing and assessment.
  • Producing and maintaining accurate monthly commercial and cost reports.
  • Administering contractor and subcontractor accounts, including change management and final accounts.
  • Supporting risk management by maintaining and updating project risk registers.
  • Reviewing and validating construction programmes and schedule updates.
  • Assessing work progress and issuing interim payment certificates and valuations.
  • Ensuring delivery aligns with project specifications, budgets, and quality standards.

Who we\’re looking for

  • Relevant experience in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management, ideally in the Nuclear / Civil engineering / Engineering (Including Service Contracting) sectors
  • Broad spectrum of technical knowledge relating to Procurement, Supply Chain, Cost and Commercial Management – ideally both pre and post contract.
  • Ideally HNC, HND or Degree qualified in a Quantity Surveying / Cost Management, Construction Law, or similar / relevant discipline, or in some case applicants with an alternative background (e.g.: Engineering) may be considered if there is significant on the job experience.
  • Professional qualifications and/or membership of the RICS, CIOB, CICES, CIPS or other relevant Chartered Institute are desirable, and will be supported if not already attained.
