Gleeds is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor in Birmingham supporting the delivery of major programmes in the Infrastructure sector. This is a key role within a multi-disciplinary team working on complex infrastructure projects where strong commercial and contractual management is critical to success.
What you’ll do:
- Operate NEC and other forms of contract and ensure compliance with contract process and timelines
- Liaise with design and planning teams to ensure commercial considerations are embedded in early design decisions
- Manage contractor and supplier engagement alongside the client and key stakeholders
- Support or lead a small commercial team, setting clear goals and overseeing performance
- Ensure clear communication and alignment across stakeholders regarding budgets, risks, and contractual obligations
- Provide cost planning, budgeting, monitoring and cost control throughout the project life cycle
- Maintain accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis for client reporting
- Conduct value engineering and whole-life cost analysis to ensure value for money
What you’ll bring:
The successful candidate will have relevant experience within Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management. It would be beneficial to have a background in Infrastructure, Civil Engineering or Engineering (including Service Contracting), but is not required. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, a methodical way of thinking and the ability to adapt quickly. Excellent problem solving, negotiating, finance and numeracy skills are also beneficial. Ideally HNC, HND or Degree qualified in a Cost Management, Quantity Surveying or similar relevant discipline. In some cases, candidates from alternative backgrounds might be considered. Professional qualifications like RICS, CIPS, or CIOB desired, but not essential.
