This role is a strategic senior hire for our London Built Asset Solutions team. We are looking for a Project Director who can lead the delivery of high-profile commissions, drive growth of our projects offering and expand our presence in a key market. Alongside client leadership and commercial focus, you will manage, mentor and develop team members, helping build capability, confidence and culture needed for long-term success.
About the role
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an accomplished chartered building surveyor with the experience, judgement, and credibility to operate at a strategic level. You will lead commissions, advise clients on complex built asset matters and play a central role in growing our London offer. Alongside client delivery, you will support business planning, build senior relationships and help create conditions for a high-performing team to succeed. You will work across Gleeds to bring together the right expertise, strengthen our market position and deliver better outcomes for clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of high-profile building surveying commissions across client portfolios and built assets
- Build, develop and retain senior client relationships, acting as a trusted adviser on strategic property and asset matters
- Drive growth in London by identifying opportunities, converting work and expanding the project services offer
- Provide leadership across service delivery, ensuring quality, consistency and commercial performance
- Shape and develop the Built Asset Solutions offer in response to client need, market change and business priorities
- Lead multidisciplinary teams across Gleeds to deliver integrated, high-value advice
- Manage, mentor and develop team members, building capability and supporting the growth of future leaders
- Contribute to business planning, team leadership and the wider direction of the London business
About You
You will be a highly credible chartered building surveyor with commercial instincts, an established professional profile and the ability to lead with confidence. You will be highly skilled in project design, specification and contract administration, with excellent knowledge of construction contracts.

Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills
- Broad, in-depth Building Surveying experience post MRICS qualification
- Detailed knowledge and practical experience of delivery of building surveying tasks
- Sound knowledge of construction methods and materials
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract strategies
- Ability to administer construction contracts as Contracts Administrator and Employers Agent
- Clear understanding of legislation impacting on building contracts
- Ability to motivate others (including providing support and encouragement) and to lead high performance teams
- Clear and effective communication skills - both oral and written
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to quickly adapt to changes
- Excellent problem solving, negotiating skills, financial and numeracy management skills
- Ability to absorb complex information and assess requirements readily
- Sound ICT Skills, with a high level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Competent at negotiating sufficient fees to both complete services and generate required profit levels
- Ability to work as part of a team and lead teams
