We are searching for a chartered project manager with experience leading the delivery of major construction projects as project director or project lead, with excellent knowledge of health sector construction projects & programmes. This is an opportunity to lead a landmark construction scheme in excess of £100m construction value, and play a key role in delivering vital health services to the local region. You will need excellent client management skills, with experience managing programmes, thorough knowledge of RIBA design stages, experience successfully managing multi-disciplinary project teams and sound understanding of working with public sector health clients. In addition to programme management & project delivery, you will be responsible for securing additional projects & workstreams within the programme.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring that projects are managed in accordance with Gleeds processes and procedures (governance and controls).
  • Agreeing fees and charges for potential services with Business Unit Manager / Area Chair.
  • Agreeing appointments / scope of services.
  • Ensuring that appointments are in place prior to commencing service delivery.
  • Delivering high quality services and deliverables ensuring that services meet our Customer’s requirements.
  • Reviewing scope of appointments on a monthly basis to ensure services are being delivered in accordance with appointments.
  • Managing and maintaining Customer relationships (i.e. Clients, business partners and other consultants).
  • Ensuring a Customer care plan is in place.
  • Resolving customer complaints.
  • Actively identifying new business development opportunities and driving growth across the Business Unit’s activities.
  • Leading and managing Teams.
  • Ensuring compliance with administrative requirements (appraisals, training, timesheets etc).
  • Developing and enhancing Gleeds cost management capability.
  • Briefing employees on relevant aspects of Gleeds business.
  • Preparing bids for services.
  • Managing service delivery for profit.
  • Managing the commercial aspects of projects (e.g. scope of services/deliverables, invoices, payments, and debt management).
  • Working harmoniously with other Directors and assisting Business Unit Manager / Area Chair.

Who we’re looking for:

Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

  • Extensive experience in delivering construction project management / programme management services.
  • Experience working in a leadership function in the management of major construction projects or frameworks.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract strategies.
  • Excellent commercial background, including familiarity with contract conditions and procedures.
  • Ability to administer contracts and act as contract administrator, with sound knowledge of NEC suite of contracts.
  • Sound understanding of legislation impacting on building contracts.
  • Demonstrate experience of leading high performance multi-disciplinary project delivery teams.
  • Ability to absorb complex information and assess requirements readily.
  • Specialist healthcare sector construction knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to support first-class bids for services.
  • Demonstrable evidence of delivering services to Clients and managing Client relationships.
  • Demonstrable experience of timely interfacing with clients and key senior stakeholders.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to lead and work as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or MAPM (Member of the Association of Project Managers) or MCIOB (Member of the Chartered Institute of Builders).
