Gleeds is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor in Birmingham supporting the delivery of major programmes in the Infrastructure sector. This is a key role within a multi-disciplinary team working on complex infrastructure projects where strong commercial and contractual management is critical to success.

What you’ll do:

  • Operate NEC and other forms of contract and ensure compliance with contract process and timelines
  • Liaise with design and planning teams to ensure commercial considerations are embedded in early design decisions
  • Manage contractor and supplier engagement alongside the client and key stakeholders
  • Support or lead a small commercial team, setting clear goals and overseeing performance
  • Ensure clear communication and alignment across stakeholders regarding budgets, risks, and contractual obligations
  • Provide cost planning, budgeting, monitoring and cost control throughout the project life cycle
  • Maintain accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis for client reporting
  • Conduct value engineering and whole-life cost analysis to ensure value for money

What you’ll bring:

  • The successful candidate will have relevant experience within Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
  • It would be beneficial to have a background in Infrastructure, Civil Engineering or Engineering (including Service Contracting), but is not required.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, a methodical way of thinking and the ability to adapt quickly.
  • Excellent problem solving, negotiating, finance and numeracy skills are also beneficial.
  • Ideally HNC, HND or Degree qualified in a Cost Management, Quantity Surveying or similar relevant discipline.
  • In some cases, candidates from alternative backgrounds might be considered.
  • Professional qualifications like RICS, CIPS, or CIOB desired, but not essential.
