Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven UK Sales Manager to lead and develop our national team of Technical Specification Managers (TSMs). This role is vital in delivering consultative, compliant, and technically robust sales solutions across the construction sector, with a key focus on architects, contractors, developers, builders, and end clients. The UK Sales Manager will own the national sales strategy, drive performance against monthly/quarterly/annual targets, mentor and upskill the TSM team, ensure high quality technical consultations, and oversee timely and compliant handling of enquiries relating to CDM Regulations, UK Building Regulations, and project‑specific technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and motivate the national TSM team to achieve sales KPIs and revenue targets. Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, coaching sessions, and field visits. Oversee team structure, territory allocation, workload balance, and performance improvement plans. Support TSMs with complex specifications, presentations, pricing, and customer negotiations.
- Sales Strategy & Performance: Develop and execute the UK sales strategy, aligned with business growth objectives. Own monthly, quarterly, and annual sales results, reporting directly to the Commercial Director. Drive new business development while ensuring high levels of existing account management. Embed a consultative sales approach, focusing on technical value, compliance, and tailored solutions. Manage pipeline quality, forecasting accuracy, and conversion rates.
- Technical & Specification Support: Ensure the team promptly and accurately handles incoming enquiries in line with CDM Regulations and UK Building Control requirements. Oversee bespoke estimating and pricing through our proprietary OMNIS pricing platform. Review or advise on construction drawings, architectural specifications, engineering details, and rooflight/structural glazing requirements. Deliver or support CPDs, technical presentations, and solution workshops for architects, contractors, and clients.
- Systems, Processes & Reporting: Use HubSpot CRM to manage leads, allocate opportunities, track performance, and monitor activity. Ensure sales administration, documentation, and data quality are maintained to company standards. Report on sales targets, pipeline status, competitor activity, and market trends to senior leadership.
- Collaboration & Cross‑Functional Work: Work closely with Estimating, Design, Engineering, Operations, and Marketing to ensure joined‑up customer experience. Provide feedback on product suitability, market trends, and opportunities for innovation. Support the Commercial Director in shaping overall business strategy and operational excellence.
Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience in B2B field sales within the construction, building products, glazing, roofing, architectural or specification‑led environment.
- Strong leadership or team mentorship experience — either as a Sales Manager or a senior BDM/Specification Manager ready to step up.
- Understanding of construction processes, architectural drawings, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent consultative selling skills with the ability to translate technical solutions into commercial value.
- Comfortable presenting to architects, contractors, developers, and construction professionals.
- Strong organisational and reporting skills with experience managing pipelines and KPIs.
- Proficient with CRM systems (HubSpot preferred) and digital sales tools.
Desirable
- Experience with rooflights, structural glazing, building envelope products, or similar technical solutions.
- Knowledge of engineering principles related to building structures, loads, or glazing.
- Familiarity with CDM Regulations, UK Building Regulations, and specification compliance.
- Experience with proprietary or bespoke pricing/estimating platforms.
Personal Attributes
- Confident leader with natural coaching and mentoring capability.
- Proactive, ambitious, and results driven.
- Technically minded with strong analytical ability.
