Position Summary

You will lead 2 Shift (Earlies and Lates) packaging activities on a fixed-term secondment. You will coordinate people, processes and resources to meet production schedules safely and to quality standards. You will coach operators, drive continuous improvement and work closely with engineering, quality and planning teams. We value leaders who are curious, practical and supportive. Responsibilities

  • People Leadership Lead, coach and develop shift teams to achieve safety, quality, compliance and performance targets while fostering continuous improvement and capability growth.
  • Engage and inspire employees by communicating the vision, objectives and purpose of their work, helping them understand their contribution to the end-to-end supply chain.
  • Drive individual and team performance through clear expectations, regular feedback, Gemba coaching, accountability and structured development plans aligned to GSK methodologies.
  • Manage people processes and talent development, including performance management, succession planning, disciplinary, grievance and absence procedures in line with GSK policies.
  • Support workforce planning including resource allocation, recruitment activities and demonstrating expected behaviours, values and performance standards.
  • Problem Solving and Performance management Drive performance improvement by setting target conditions, deploying performance management processes, and using accurate data and performance measures to achieve business objectives.
  • Lead issue resolution and continuous improvement through real-time problem identification, structured root cause analysis, GSK problem-solving methodologies, and tracking of key priorities and KPIs through Tier 1 and Tier 2 processes.
  • Ensure compliance, quality and operational recovery by managing deviation clinics, leading investigations (including Quality and pSIF when required), implementing corrective actions, and restoring operations to standard following safety, quality or performance incidents.
  • Process Management Lead operational excellence and governance by driving adherence to Leader Standard Work, maintaining a strong floor presence during production, and actively participating in site governance and performance review forums.
  • Manage tiered accountability and business systems by leading effective Tier 1 and Tier 2 meetings, ensuring timely follow-up of actions, providing performance data, and maintaining accurate inputs into GSK systems such as SAP and Workday.

Basic Qualification

  • Experience supervising production or packaging teams in a regulated manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and basic safety standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for all levels.
  • Experience with performance management, training coordination and shift planning.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or equivalent manufacturing/ERP systems.
  • GCSEs including maths and English, A-levels or equivalent qualifications.

Preferred Qualification

  • Formal Lean or Operational Excellence training (advocate level or higher).
  • Experience using problem-solving tools such as DIMAIC or other structured methodologies.
  • Familiarity with deviation, change control and quality systems in a regulated environment.
  • Experience with digital performance dashboards and basic data analysis.
  • Leadership or people management training.
  • Awareness of warehouse, logistics or materials flow principles.

Working model and location

This role is on-site at our Worthing manufacturing facility and is a fixed-term secondment for the duration specified in the advert. The role will work on a (2 shift pattern, earlies and lates).

About Worthing Manufacturing Site

Manufacturing at the Worthing site is for antibiotics (Penicillin). It is advised that you take this into consideration when deciding to apply for this position. GSK Worthing Site is a mixed manufacturing site with complex regulatory pressures. Manufacturing processes are highly technical and include high hazard activities.
