This role sits within a global employment taxes team, with primary responsibility for UK domestic employment tax compliance and governance. The successful candidate will support the effective management of UK employment tax risk across the organisation, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and embedding robust employment tax processes and controls. The role is primarily compliance and governance-focused, with opportunities to lead on advisory work and employment tax projects as part of a broader global employment tax team. This is a role suited to someone looking to deepen their technical and operational experience in a complex, large-scale FTSE environment. Aligned with GSK and the tax team’s drive for digital fluency, the role will include a constant drive to create efficiencies within the processes owned by this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • UK Employment Tax Compliance
    • Deliver UK employment tax compliance obligations across the group.
    • Coordinate and review annual and periodic employment tax filings, such as P11Ds, P11D(b)s, PAYE Settlement Agreements (PSAs) and related disclosures.
    • Work closely with payroll teams to ensure employment tax requirements are correctly reflected in payroll processing.
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls, governance frameworks and audit requirements.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Act as a point of contact for UK employment tax matters for internal stakeholders such as Payroll, HR, Reward, Benefits and Finance.
    • Act as the key point of contact for HMRC in relation to UK employment tax compliance.
    • Manage responses to routine HMRC queries, reviews and correspondence.
    • Support the Head of Employment Taxes on more complex or escalated matters where required.
  • Benefits, expenses & reward interaction
    • Provide UK employment tax input on benefits and expenses, including policy interpretation and practical application.
    • Support Reward and HR teams by advising on the employment tax treatment of UK remuneration and benefit arrangements.
    • Assist with employment tax aspects of share-based incentive arrangements from a UK perspective.
  • Global collaboration & support
    • Collaborate with the Global Mobility team on UK employment tax considerations for internationally mobile employees, including payroll interactions and shadow payroll input.
    • Contribute UK technical expertise to wider global employment tax initiatives, projects and process improvements.
    • Work as an integral member of the global employment taxes team, supporting consistency and best practice across the Group.
  • Risk awareness & continuous improvement
    • Stay up to date with UK employment tax legislative and HMRC practice changes.
    • Proactively identify risks, issues and opportunities for process or control improvements.
    • Support internal reviews, audits and governance activity relating to UK employment taxes.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in UK employment taxes, gained in-house, in professional services, or a combination of both.
  • Strong understanding of UK employment tax compliance, including PAYE, NIC, benefits-in-kind and employer reporting obligations.
  • Practical experience dealing with HMRC on employment tax matters.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and deliver accurate outcomes.
  • ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent (qualified by experience also considered).
  • Clear communicator, able to explain technical matters to non-tax stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a FTSE-listed, multinational organisation or top tier advisory firms.
  • Exposure to global organisations or internationally mobile employee populations.
