The Onyx Research Data Platform organization represents a major investment by GSK R&D and Digital & Tech, designed to deliver a step‑change in our ability to leverage data, knowledge, and prediction to find new medicines. We are a full‑stack shop consisting of product and portfolio leadership, data engineering, infrastructure and DevOps, data / metadata / knowledge platforms, and AI/ML and analysis platforms, all geared toward:

  • Building a next‑generation, metadata and automation‑driven data experience for GSK’s scientists, engineers, and decision‑makers, increasing productivity and reducing time spent on “data mechanics.”
  • Providing best‑in‑class AI/ML and data analysis environments to accelerate our predictive capabilities and attract top‑tier talent.
  • Aggressively engineering our data at scale, as one unified asset, to unlock the value of our unique collection of data and predictions in real‑time.

Oversight of the program of work and financial delivery is key to successful execution of this mission. The Onyx Portfolio Management team is accountable for defining, building, and executing on our internal processes for agile planning and delivery across our entire portfolio. They ensure that the leadership of the Onyx organization and key partners / stakeholders have a transparent view into our overall progress, and that issues / blockers / misalignments are raised early before they become major problems. And they partner with our product and engineering leadership to ensure our overall ways of working, including software delivery, are best‑in‑class and set us up for success.

This role is accountable for supporting Onyx technical teams with project management needs, ensuring quality in internal standard ways of working including appropriate documentation, resource tracking and capacity planning to ensure successful program/project delivery. The incumbent will also partner with Product Managers to devise and execute realistic, achievable, and high‑quality plans that enable delivery of Onyx products across multiple sprints.

A Program Manager should be able to develop comprehensive, actionable project plan from various data points, including information that is poorly defined, ambiguous, and complex. A Program Manager should also be able to effectively execute project plans to completion, while facilitating agile ceremonies, managing risk, and partnering across Onyx and the business.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Embed Agile Project Management Practices: (1) Steer cross‑functional project teams through all phases of agile software development lifecycle (SDLC); (2) Spearhead implementation and continuous improvement of agile practices; (3) Embed and execute agile ceremonies including quarterly and sprint planning, daily stand‑up, sprint review, retrospective, and shiproom.
  • Enhance Team & Project Effectiveness: (1) Collaborate with team leads to identify and address challenges hindering team and project performance; (2) Build capability by coaching and mentoring project team members; (3) Ensure project team members feel valued and heard by fostering an inclusive, diverse, and psychologically safe work environment.
  • Drive Cross‑Team Coordination & Collaboration: (1) Deploy interventions that contribute to single view of each project and seamless integration of deliverables; (2) Align work of project teams by partnering with product managers to optimize backlog management and sprint planning; (3) Implement strategies that increase transparency and information flow across Onyx.
  • Build Stakeholders & Partner Relationships: (1) Work alongside engineering leads, Product Managers, and Quality Managers to implement project discipline across deliverables; (2) Partner with R&D and R&D tech to break complex work into critical path items, milestones, dependencies, and risks; (3) Collaborate with other program managers to streamline agile practices across Onyx.
  • Reduce Risk & Dependency Impact: (1) Embed practices that enable risk and dependency identification, assessment, documentation, and monitoring; (2) Determine best risk strategies and work with appropriate stakeholders to design and deploy appropriate risk mitigations; (3) Closely monitor and track risks and dependencies, leveraging escalation points as needed.
  • Measure Impact with Data & Insights: (1) Alongside tech leads and product managers, contribute to establishing measurable objectives and key results (OKRs); (2) Identify appropriate tracking mechanisms and determine best way to report and visualize results; (3) Analyze data and produce insights that inform decision making and ways of working.
  • Proactively Address Change: (1) Work closely with product management and project teams to integrate change management activities into project plans; (2) Prior to deploying new interventions or ways of working, collaborate with team leads to identify strategies to minimize resistance and increase user adoption; (3) Account for user training needs in project timelines.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT Program Management, Data Engineering, Computer science, Software Engineering
  • 4+ years job‑related experience with an established track record of Program delivery for software applications.
  • 2+ years’ experience in Agile program/project management, including the use of associated tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Preferred Experience:
