We are looking for a Scientific Data and Application Product Manager to design, build, and maintain data pipelines and applications that support CMC’s (Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls) scientific data and digital product portfolio. Working hands‑on with data scientists and engineers, you will combine technical delivery with product ownership, translating scientific and operational needs into robust, scalable data and application solutions. This is a role, offering the opportunity to design and build well‑engineered products using modern approaches, including agentic AI, while ensuring they are reliable, usable and fit for purpose within a regulated CMC environment. You will play a key role in strengthening our data strategy, architecture and engineering practices to enable high‑quality digital products for scientific teams.

For candidates seeking to be located at our Stevenage site, this role will temporarily be based at Stevenage. However, the Company plans to relocate its offices to Cambridge, UK or Ware. The location of this role will therefore subsequently change to Cambridge, UK or Ware in accordance with timelines to be set by the Company. The relocation is currently proposed to take effect by early 2029. We embrace modern work practises; our Performance with Choice programme offers a hybrid working model, empowering you to find the optimal balance between remote and in‑office work.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Annual bonus based on company performance
  • Healthcare and wellbeing programmes
  • Pension plan membership
  • Shares and savings programme

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain data pipelines, data models and applications that support scientific and operational decision‑making across CMC.
  • Own and deliver the roadmap for a defined portfolio of scientific data and application products, balancing hands‑on delivery with day‑to‑day prioritisation.
  • Define and implement product data strategy, including how data is sourced, modelled, integrated, governed and applied to support business outcomes.
  • Translate scientific and operational requirements into technical specifications, data models and application features, working closely with scientists, engineers and developers.
  • Build, configure, test and troubleshoot applications and tools, including modern approaches such as agentic AI, to deliver reliable and usable solutions.
  • Coordinate a small team and/or external partners, providing technical guidance, quality assurance and stakeholder updates while ensuring compliance with data governance, quality and GxP requirement.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Software Engineering, Life Sciences, or a closely related scientific or technical field.
  • Strong hands‑on experience delivering data pipelines, data models and data applications or software, including practical experience building production‑grade data and application solutions.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical data, including drug supply, manufacturing, analytical, batch, and process development data, with exposure to lab and plant data also relevant.
  • Hands‑on experience with computational languages such as SQL and Python.
  • Sound practical judgement, balancing scientific value, technical feasibility, and delivery priorities.
  • Ability to work directly and collaboratively with (data) scientists, data engineers, and software development teams.
  • Effective stakeholder management skills, able to gather requirements and communicate progress to scientific, technical, and business audiences.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Masters degree or equivalent in a scientific, data engineering, or computer science discipline, or relevant product and data certifications.
  • Exposure to agentic or AI‑enabled approaches — within a scientific, healthcare, or pharmaceutical (CMC) environment.
  • A continuous‑learning mindset, staying current with developments in data engineering, application development, and agentic/AI approaches applicable to scientific R&D.
