This is a site-based role in Worthing, UK.

At our GSC Worthing site, we have a proud heritage in global manufacture of oral antibiotics (solid dose and dry powder suspension), The site also manufactures bulk export material for use at other manufacturing sites in our network.

This role is responsible for managing the implementation and ensuring the ongoing sustainability of MSAT technical standards across the manufacturing site. It includes accountability for providing subject matter expertise to support these standards.

Key responsibilities include leading and managing a technical team within the MSAT (Manufacturing Science and Technology) department, with a focus on supporting the Orals Value Stream. The role entails addressing daily technical challenges, investigating plant issues and customer complaints, and executing projects aligned with the site’s breakthrough objectives.

The position also provides expert site-wide support for strategic projects and priorities, including the implementation of manufacturing processes. Collaboration with process and product owners across the manufacturing space is essential to drive process transformation and successful implementation, while also supporting day-to-day manufacturing operations.

In this role you will:

  • Support Product Owner in the delivery of:
    • Ensuring product control strategy is in place
    • Local delivery of the technical agenda
    • Assessing impact of any changes to the product
    • Leading investigations and Root Cause Analysis supporting deviations
  • Identify opportunities to improve the Worthing Orals Business through robust problem solving and continuous improvement, tracking and ensuring beneficial delivery of corrective actions, preventative actions and minor projects for department against measurable targets.
  • Support critical compliance processes and activities including inspection readiness process ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Manage talent, capability and development of the team to support the business needs including the development of capabilities including Subject Matter Experts in the following areas:
    • Technical and Material Risk Assessments
    • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) including Continuous Process Verification (CPV) and Validation
    • Cleaning Validation
    • Contamination Control, Including Extractables & Leachables (E&L) and other associated topics
  • Lead the manufacturing support team to ensure robust delivery of:
    • Day to day support of the Suspension and Tablet Operational areas and associated systems.
    • Provision of troubleshooting support for production processes and equipment.
    • Support process and technical investigations, including corrective and preventative actions.
    • Provide responses with the appropriate sense of urgency, dealing effectively with conflicting priorities, to enable the production and release of quality product in line with production schedules
  • Ownership of knowledge management related to the product and process, encompassing the development of implementation strategies for deepening process-related expertise within the production areas and process confirmations to ensure Product Control Strategy (PCS) is in place.

  • Thorough knowledge of GMP and Regulatory requirementsin a pharmaceutical environment.
  • Thorough operational knowledge of manufacturing unit operations and plant/laboratory equipment
  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels of the organisation
  • Proven capabilities in enabling and driving change, delivering solutions, developing people, and building relationships across multiple interfaces and in a matrix environment.
  • Strong ability to manage and influence stakeholder at site and the wider business
