The Global Supply Chain (GSC) Strategy team designs the supply chains to bring GSK’s medicines and vaccines to patients. The Strategy team is responsible for product and network strategy (including the delivery of strategic programmes). The Strategy Team has a clear ambition to be the “Best in Industry Strategy team”. The Senior Programme Manager provides project and programme management for strategic projects spanning multiple sites/products. You will lead planning and delivery of complex programmes that enable delivery of GSK’s strategic objectives and achieve its growth targets.
The Senior Programme Manager provides strong expertise in project management (as needed) and uses standard tools to manage the project or programme (including providing project management expertise, coaching and support to members of the project team). The role works closely with project sponsors and business leads to understand scope and deliverables, as well as to mobilise project teams and manage projects (from initiation to completion), whilst tracking benefit delivery.
The role oversees end-to-end management of projects/programmes whilst navigating complexity across workstreams, which are led by respective workstream leads. You will drive strategic alignment across the functions involved, ensure proactive risk identification and mitigations, and manage communications and escalations (through all layers of programme governance).
The programmes in scope include network exits, technical life cycle management, new product/operational technology introductions across network, new product launches, and business integrations/divestments.
Key Responsibilities:- Work with the sponsor and business lead to understand and define the scope and deliverables of each project or programme.
- Engage with functional teams to secure resources and mobilise the cross-functional project team.
- Clarify roles and responsibilities within project teams and ensure day to day decision making and project compliance with GSK's wider program and/or portfolio management decision-making structures and processes.
- Establish standard project management oversight; including development of the plan, tracking and reporting of progress, risks, issues and interdependencies.
- Input to governance and portfolio oversight e.g. steering teams, Monthly Performance Review.
- Facilitate development and approval of the project budget and manage spend to deliver within budget.
- Contribute to stakeholder engagement by identifying internal transactional/operational stakeholders; finding out their needs, issues, and concerns; and by reacting to these needs, issues, and concerns to support the communication of business information project updates and decisions.
- Provide stakeholders with accurate and relevant information and provide input to governance papers to enable others to present and make recommendations regarding project status, risks, issues and escalations.
- Provide support to, and share best practice with, other members of the project team.
Location: Ideally you will be based at GSK HQ (in London, UK) or at the Wavre manufacturing site (in Belgium). We can also consider high-calibre applicants who are based at GSC sites, but please note that most of the key-stakeholder groups are based in Europe.
Basic Qualifications:- Degree (or international equivalent) in Business, Supply Chain, Technical, or related field (e.g. Engineering, Logistics, Finance or Quality).
- Experience in Pharmaceutical Industry with a GMP background.
- Experience in project management.
- Experience in management of project governance and escalation processes including senior stakeholder communication and reporting.
- Experience in delivery of strategic business projects with associated responsibility for risk/issue, timeline and budget management.
- Experience in product operational technologies as required by the supplier and product.
- Experience in managing globally dispersed virtual matrix teams.
- Experience in risk management and mitigation.
- Experienced in end-to-end Supply Chain Management and financial acumen.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, adept at senior stakeholder engagement.
