NIS P&D Project Management, Associate Director in London

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver the Non‑Interventional Studies (NIS) Project Plan and support managing resources (External Project Expenditure (EPE)/Internal Project Expenditure (IPE)) within your designated therapy area (TA).
• Collaborate with functional team members across the NIS portfolio, including the Global Real‑World Evidence & Health Outcomes (GRWE&HO), Epidemiology (EPI), Patient Centered Outcomes (PCO), Real‑world Data & Analytics (RWD&A) scientists, and NIS P&D Study Delivery Leads & Associates, along with Pipeline Project Management, Medical Project Management, Resource Management, Finance and others.
• Develop and proactively deliver aligned, high‑quality NIS Project Plans across assigned asset projects in partnership with GRWE&HO, EPI, PCO, RWD&A scientists and NIS P&D Study Delivery Leads.
• Maintain an accurate integrated plan schedule in Planisware.
• Use NIS Project Plan schedules to drive cost (EPE) and resource (IPE) forecasts.
• Improve and maintain system data quality by ensuring schedule compliance to established business rules, standards and ways of working.
• Ensure the work packages within the NIS project plan in Planisware reflect the work being scheduled.
• Partner with key stakeholders on project teams including Pipeline and Medical Project Managers, Early Development Lead, Medicines Development Lead, Vaccines Development Lead, Global Medical Lead, Finance, etc. to align plan schedules with intended strategy and advise of changes, constraints, and risks.
• Contribute to scenario planning through the development of alternative planning schedules and portfolio decision making.
• Proactively design scenarios & recommend alternatives to accountable NIS functional lines.
• Support analyses of information to design/build status reports across key project control performance areas: scope and schedule with Reporting Team.
• Identify and manage risks in a risk register or plan schedule and translate these into NIS Project Plan schedule.
• May act as Integrated Resource Management Subject Matter Expert within planning, cost and resourcing.
• Lead preparation of documents for stakeholder management (OnePager Gantt reports, stakeholder maps, communication plans, slides for NIS functional leadership team members or Governance Discussions).
• Demonstrate interpersonal skills and general management knowledge in the R&D and CPO business environment.
• Maintain awareness of project planning practices within GSK, the pharmaceutical industry and other industries.
• Support technical and leadership development of NIS Planning & Delivery staff through mentoring and coaching and may be responsible for line managing NIS P&D Project Managers and/or industrial placement students.

Specialised Knowledge:

The position requires a performance‑driven, seasoned project management professional with a strong sense of urgency, exceptional organisational credibility, and deep understanding of the NIS scientific and operational aspects of the pharmaceutical R&D business.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Basic Qualifications & Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in project management, business, science or finance.
• Experience in Non‑Interventional Studies (NIS), clinical operations or related pharmaceutical/drug development research with a minimum of 2 years experience in project management.
• Industry R&D operational experience.
• Proven experience leveraging Project Management software (e.g. Microsoft Project, Planisware).
• Proven knowledge of project management methodology and tools.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Understand complexities of navigating projects, data and processes in a highly matrixed organization.
• Proven ability to define the best decision for the organization and not for one function.
• Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
• Advanced degree (e.g. MS, PhD, PharmD) or equivalent experience.
• Professional Project Management (PMP) Certification or equivalent.
• Knowledge and experience of Non‑Interventional Studies (NIS).
• Proven expertise in the proactive identification of issues which may impact clinical programmes coupled with the ability to contribute to solutions affecting cross‑functional matrix teams.
• Demonstrated experience leading in both matrix and line environment to deliver projects, develop clinical plans, and manage change.
