We are looking for ML and software engineers with a track record in developing production grade software solutions, who can collaborate closely with our AI/ML engineers and researchers. Ideal candidates are outstanding software engineers with in-depth knowledge in modern software craftsmanship practices and a keen interest in ethical and safety aspects of using AI in biomedical applications and the clinic.

In this role you will:
- Design and build tooling that implements Responsible AI principles (e.g., fairness, robustness, transparency, privacy, and security) across GSK’s AI/ML workflows.
- Efficiently operationalize the latest AI ethics and policy guidelines to improve the transparency and governance of GSK's models and pipelines, while reducing the documentation burden (e.g. via AI-driven automation and agents).
- Contribute to AI/ML research on the responsible use of AI in biomedical and clinical applications.
- Work closely with research scientists, senior leaders and AI/ML engineers on the implementation of GSK’s responsible AI strategy.
Qualifications & Skills:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- A degree in a quantitative or engineering discipline (e.g., computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, engineering, among others); OR equivalent work experience as a professional ML engineer or data scientist.
- Demonstrated advanced programming expertise in Python and in developing and delivering robust software solutions.
- Knowledge of machine learning principles and state-of-the-art modelling approaches, and experience with at least one major deep learning framework (preferably PyTorch).
- Knowledge of modern software engineering tools and best practices.
- Keenness to learn fast in a new domain and to continuously develop your ML and software engineering skills.
- Proactive communication and problem-solving, and a proven ability to collaborate with colleagues of various backgrounds and levels of seniority.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Experience with containerization (Docker), continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), and MLOps.
- Experience working with biomedical data (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, electronic health records, clinical images).
- Research experience (e.g., Master’s project, internship at research organization).
- Contributions to relevant open-source projects.
- A background or interest in biology, medicine or ethics.
