This position is part of the Ecodesign team and acts as custodian of GSK’s Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Standard and GSK’s Product Footprinting Tool (PFT). The role reports to the Director of Life Cycle Assessment to support the delivery of all technical aspects of the sustainability strategy for legacy, next-generation, and new products within the GSC (Global Supply Chain) product portfolio. You will build partnerships across matrix teams, supporting GSK’s Sustainability and Ecodesign teams to ensure the necessary technical sustainability capabilities are in place to meet evolving business and regulatory requirements. You will act as a recognized expert in Ecodesign implementation across global business operations, with a strong delivery mindset and communication style to engage our employees globally. Perform product Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) or Carbon Footprints, working with internal and external stakeholders to source the necessary data and present the results in an engaging way. Be one of GSK’s product footprint experts, performing LCAs to identify hotspots and opportunities to reduce the footprint across climate and nature. Produce the GSK Value Chain carbon footprints and update the reduction glidepaths to 2030. Create and maintain carbon reduction glide paths in identified hotspots. Drive and enable others to reduce carbon and waste generated and transition to circularity within GSC operations, ensuring the appropriate standards, guidance, and policies are in place to enable progress towards our 2030 Sustainability goals. Support the training and capability building of GSK personnel and maintain associated training materials. Maintain GSC’s footprints, LCA standards, and the governance system to support this. Analyse complex, high-dimensional data sets, build novel, innovative models to solve sustainability problems, and identify improvement opportunities. Manage associated sustainability programs and projects. Build a repository of completed LCAs, standards, and best practices, and share them to amplify stakeholder engagement and promote consistent application. Develop systems and reporting to increase access and availability of data that enables better outcomes. Location: Ideally you will be based at Ware, Barnard Castle or GSK HQ (in the UK), but we can accommodate high-calibre applicants that can be based at any global GSK site. About You: This role would suit a motivated person who has a clear passion for sustainability and/or lifecycle assessment. Experience of LCA &/or Carbon Footprints would be advantageous but is not essential. You will be curious and have the ability to analyse complex, high-dimensional data sets, build novel, innovative models to solve business problems and/or identify untapped opportunities. You will be educated to degree-level (in a relevant subject). You will have a strong continuous improvement mindset as well as excellent communication skills; a proactive and collaborative team approach, promoting inclusivity, support, and motivation among peers; a desire to go beyond process and procedure, with an ability to think innovatively to enhance program outcomes. Basic Qualifications: Relevant degree and/or strong equivalent experience (e.g., Engineering, Science, Environmental Science, Environment Management, Business, or related fields). Excellent written skills, with specific experience authoring reports/requests and other related deliverables. Ability to compile, integrate, and use data from multiple sources to answer business questions. Demonstrated ability to drive positive change in sustainability with credibility and the ability to influence senior levels of the organization without direct line management. Experience and in-depth scientific/technical knowledge of pharmaceutical products, whether in process development, product development, scale-up, or operations (preferred but not essential). Why GSK?
