GSK Barnard Castle operates a state‑of‑the‑art secondary manufacturing site that produces a wide range of medicines. The site contributes approx. £2 bn in annual revenue and supports global supply for over 130 markets. This role is a Manufacturing Operator within the Steriles Business Unit (C Block ISM). Successful applicants will be part of the production team that manufactures and fills sterile products. Work will be performed on a 24/7 shift pattern.
Responsibilities
- Manufacture biopharmaceuticals using disposable technologies.
- Dispense buffer excipients.
- Retrieve materials from –20 °C and –40 °C freezers.
- Use digital systems (MES).
- Work in a cleanroom environment and maintain appropriate aseptic behaviours.
- Conduct filter integrity testing.
- Support filling operations – component and finished product processing and IPC checks.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with MSAT/R&D.
- Manufacture multiple products, including legacy products and new product introductions.
- Prepare and autoclave sterilised machine parts.
- Complete documentation accurately and timely, using various computer and automation systems.
Basic Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent pharmaceutical experience.
- Demonstrated alignment with GSK values: Transparency, respect, integrity, patient focus.
- Prior pharmaceutical manufacturing experience.
- Good understanding of digital systems and platforms.
- Exhibits teamwork, courage, development, and accountability.
- Knowledge of GMP and its importance in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and drive continuous improvement using GPS.
- Flexibility to work defined shift patterns.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Previous manufacturing experience.
- Previous sterile product manufacturing experience.
