Associate Director, Clinical Operations Decision Analytics

You will lead decision analytics for clinical operations across global studies. You will design and deliver data-driven tools, models and insights that improve trial planning, execution and resource use. • Lead development and delivery of analytics and decision-support solutions for clinical operations planning and optimisation.
• Translate operational needs into data models, dashboards and predictive algorithms that improve trial timelines, cost and quality.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to embed analytics into study design, site selection, patient recruitment and monitoring processes.
• Oversee end-to-end analytics projects, from requirements and data sourcing to model validation and deployment.
• Coach and grow a small team of analysts and data scientists, promoting clear communication and practical solutions.
• Ensure analytics follow regulatory, privacy and governance standards and support audit readiness.

Responsibilities:

• Define priorities and roadmaps for clinical operations decision analytics that align with study and portfolio goals.
• Work with clinical operations leads to identify high-impact use cases and measure the value of analytics interventions.
• Build robust predictive models and operational metrics that are explainable and actionable for non-technical stakeholders.
• Drive implementation of analytics into operational workflows and digital tools, working with tech teams to productionise solutions.
• Provide timely, clear reporting and recommendations to senior leaders to support decision making.
• Mentor team members, set clear objectives, and create a collaborative environment focused on delivery and learning.

We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals:

• Degree in statistics, data science, epidemiology, life sciences, mathematics, computer science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Deep experience in analytics and consulting roles supporting clinical operations, clinical development or related healthcare areas.
• Practical experience building predictive models or optimisation algorithms using Python, R, or similar tools.
• Strong knowledge of clinical trial processes, operational metrics and study lifecycle stages.
• Proven experience working with clinical and operational data sources and common data standards.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects and influencing senior stakeholders in a matrix environment.

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

• Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in a quantitative or clinical discipline.
• Hands-on experience with machine learning techniques applied to operational or time-to-event problems.
• Familiarity with clinical trial systems and data (e.g., EDC, IRT/IXR, CTMS) and integrating those sources into analytics.
• Experience with cloud platforms, containerisation, or CI/CD for analytics deployment.
• Prior people management experience and a track record of developing analytical teams.
• Experience in regulated environments with good understanding of validation, documentation and audit needs.
• Experience in pharmaceutical strategy consulting environments.

This role is hybrid based in the United Kingdom at GSK HQ. You will combine regular office presence with flexible remote working. We will discuss specific expectations during the recruitment process.
