Founded in London, in 2010, Glassworks is a fresh London fashion brand – independent, style-obsessed and focused on bricks-and-mortar boutiques as well as streamlined digital shopping. Our design-led stores and website refresh weekly with small runs of new fashion, supported by a dedicated staff-turned-stylists committed to excellent customer service. With the recent launch of our USA ecommerce site and Soho store relocation, we are scaling existing channels and shifting production to sustainable fabrics and processes while maintaining a strong design aesthetic, a stylish in-store atmosphere and a strong customer focus.

Role: The Retail Store Manager will be highly organized and a confident self-starter responsible for managing one Glassworks retail location on a day-to-day basis. You will lead a retail team appropriate to your location and report to the Retail Area Manager. This role is suitable for someone driven to succeed in retail management, who is mature, quick-thinking and capable of handling a range of situations and personalities. No two days are the same, and as the company grows, stores will be regularly improved and performance targets elevated. You will manage the store daily, work and lead independently, and demonstrate experience that illustrates this strength. This is a unique opportunity to play a core role in driving the company to success.

Responsibilities

  • Managing people, brand/store environment standards and store operations to achieve daily/weekly/monthly targets and ensuring best-in-class customer service and satisfaction scores;
  • Managing the retail team including regular meetings, personal development plans/appraisals, and commission/contest rewards;
  • Recruiting and delivering new staff training/onboarding and ongoing staff training for new information/procedures;
  • Monitoring store sales targets/KPIs and guiding the team to achieve excellent store performance in monthly management reviews;
  • Planning and distributing staffing schedules to keep labour costs within budget;
  • Overseeing stock delivery, stock transfer and stock room maintenance processes;
  • Developing creative strategies (e.g., new product, visual merchandising ideas) to maximise the store’s role within the territory;
  • Effectively managing performance and corrective action processes in conjunction with Human Resources.

Required Skills

  • 2+ years of retail management experience is essential, preferably in women’s fashion. This role suits a former small boutique manager who enjoys working with small teams and delivering personal shopping experiences.
  • Passion for the Glassworks London brand/products, clear styling ability, and strong communication with customers and team members.
  • Ability to identify stand-out sales talent and the drive and maturity to train, develop and manage retail teams.
  • Understanding of retail KPIs (revenue, ATV, UPT, profit) with a proven track record of driving store performance.
  • Ownership mindset for store and team performance and initiatives that drove success.
  • IT skills with comfort using and learning new technologies, including Microsoft Excel, POS systems, barcoding software, etc.; training will be provided but the candidate should be able to sort out basic technology issues independently.
