Glasgow City Assessor is looking to recruit two RICS Chartered Valuation Surveyors to join our Valuation Teams. The roles are permanent and advertised as full-time, but we will consider applicants who wish to work part-time.

Initially, you will be part of the High Value Property Band project team, and we will consider applications from chartered surveyors with relevant residential valuation experience. You will also be given the opportunity to then expand your experience beyond Council Tax and into Non-domestic Rating. Applications are welcomed from those with existing council tax and rating experience.

In addition to your valuation duties, you will also discuss and negotiate disposal of proposals to alter both Council Tax Bands and Rateable Values including presentation of expert witness evidence before the Tribunal Service. We operate a hybrid working model with a mixture of office-based collaboration, focused home working, and survey operations within the city. We have a range of benefits and flexible working policies to support you through your time with us as well as an award-winning contributory pension scheme.

This position requires a Basic Disclosure (level 1). Please note successful candidates for the above position will be required to pay for their Disclosure.

We operate a competency-based recruitment process which aligns the role profile to a Person Specification. Applicants who best demonstrate competence will be invited for an in-person interview at our offices within the City Chambers complex in the centre of Glasgow. You will be asked to choose an interview slot using an online portal if you are selected.

The Council promotes flexible working, we are happy to talk about flexible working options in relation to the role, to support your work-life balance. We welcome applications from everyone and are committed to building a diverse workforce. We particularly encourage applications from people from ethnic minority backgrounds, disabled people and women for senior roles, as these groups are currently underrepresented within our workforce.

As a Disability Confident Employer, Glasgow City Council aims to offer an interview to disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for the role, in line with the Disability Confident scheme.
