Job Description

Glasgow City Council’s Summer Internship Programme will be available from Monday 9 June 2025 – Friday 29 August 2025, inclusive.

Applicants must be available for the full duration of the placement.

The intern will work 35 hours per week and rate of pay will be the Glasgow Living Wage. Interns will work for 12 weeks, during which time they will accrue 6 days leave, the payment of which is included in their Salary so must be taken during their 12-week placement.

Applicants require to be available week commencing 31 March 2025 for interview.

We are looking to recruit 2 interns who will assist in the ongoing project of Council title review. This will consist of building on the work carried out by previous interns since 2014. The focus will continue to be on areas of work emerging from the Scottish Government’s Land Reform and Community Empowerment Programme, increasing transparency and accessibility of information on the council’s land ownership. While the main element of the project will be common good with an additional emphasis on the digitisation of the council’s property titles. There will also be opportunities to gain experience of other areas of work within the council’s legal and administrative services.

The interns would undergo a period of training and induction, and then carry out a variety of tasks under the guidance of a nominated solicitor, with, in addition, one mentor being allocated to each intern for overall supervision and support.

The project would be suitable for a 3rd or 4th year LLB undergraduate student who has studied property law (or the equivalent for a student undertaking an accelerated degree, who would normally be able to apply after completing 2nd year) and who will be returning to university either to complete their degree or to undertake the Diploma in Legal Practice.

• Must live within the Glasgow City Council boundary
• Have the right to live and work in the UK
• Be in the year of study specified in the advert
