Criteria for School Leavers:
- Candidates must attend a Glasgow School, or live in Glasgow and attend a non-Glasgow school
- Candidates must have left school in the past 3 months or should be eligible to leave school in the next 3 months
Criteria for College Leavers:
- Candidates must be living in the Glasgow City Council postcode boundary
- Candidates must be due to leave college in the next 3 months
Criteria for Non-School/College Leavers:
- Candidates must be unemployed or underemployed (part-time or 0 hours contract)
- Candidates must be living in the Glasgow City Council postcode boundary
Candidates must be referred by a Glasgow Guarantee approved Employability Provider and assessed by them as being job ready
As an apprentice Plumber, you will gain valuable on the job experience whilst working alongside a qualified tradesperson. You will also attend City Building’s Training College on a block release basis to complete SVQ units such as Install and Test Domestic Plumbing and Heating Systems, Service and Maintain Domestic Plumbing and Heating Systems, Commission and Decommission Plumbing and Heating Systems. All of these units provide you with a pathway into the completion of the Gas Training element of your Modern Apprenticeship. You will also learn about Low Carbon Emission Technology such as Air Source Heat Pumps, Ground Source Heat Pumps and Photo Voltaic Systems.
An apprenticeship with City Building (Glasgow) LLP gives you the best of both worlds in that you attend college on a block release programme to learn your trade as well as gaining on site practical experience on live City Building (Glasgow) LLP projects.
You could be working within:
A building site, Customers Homes, Public Buildings, Retrofitting Renewable Technologies, New Build Schools, New Build Housing, Refurbishment Projects and Community Projects.
As well as gaining a vast amount of experience, you will ‘earn as you learn’ meaning you will be paid a wage for learning your trade.
Successful applicants will be given full support throughout their apprenticeship and are expected to adhere to existing work practices, methods, procedures and undertake relevant training and development activities, as well as carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as directed by Supervisors. You are expected to adhere to City Building (Glasgow) LLP’s Health and Safety Policy at all times.
