We are offering two Trainee Assistant Planner opportunities where you can earn while you learn, gaining practical planning experience while studying part‑time for a BSc in Town Planning at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS).

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to the delivery of Glasgow’s statutory Planning Service
  • Assess planning applications and supporting documents
  • Attend site visits and meetings
  • Help prepare planning reports
  • Support the public with enquiries by phone, email, or face‑to‑face
  • Play a part in shaping healthier, more sustainable neighbourhoods
  • Work collaboratively within a supportive professional team

This role provides a varied, dynamic workload, letting you apply what you learn at university directly to real projects making an impact across Glasgow. This post is fixed term for a period up to 30 June 2030.

Your Study Commitment

  • Attendance at University of the West of Scotland one day per week
  • Participation in coursework, assessments, and exams required for the BSc Town Planning degree

What You Need

  • 4 Highers at BCCC, including National 5 Maths and English (C or above) by August 2026
  • Strong IT, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others
  • It is also desirable (but not essential) to have a full, current UK driving licence.
