We are recruiting for Glasgow Life Assistants (Pool Lifeguard) to join us on a full time (35 hours) permanent basis., As a Glasgow Life Assistant (Pool Lifeguard) you’ll be an integral part of the team by delivering exceptional customer service to our swimmers and customers. You’ll go going above and beyond to deliver the highest of standards when dealing with customers and cleanliness in our venues. Reporting to the Duty Manager and working alongside an established team, you’ll be responsible for supervision of both our pools and customers.

The candidate

If you’re interested in joining us as a Glasgow Life Assistant (Pool Lifeguard) you’ll need:

  • To be a competent swimmer (be able to achieve a timed 100m swim & deep dive).

  • Hold an existing pool lifeguard qualification OR be able to complete the STA Pool Lifeguard qualification within 12 weeks (delivered by Glasgow Life)

  • Commitment to attend regular work training to maintain your qualification.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Full time roles are 35 hours per week 5 out of 7 days.

Depending on the venue, our earliest shift starts at 5.45am and latest finishes at 10.30pm (Monday to Friday) and weekends operate from 8am with closing at 8pm. Rotas typically work on a 3 rolling week rotation, so you’ll know what hours you are working in advance.

Our city-wide teams support venues across Glasgow as required, but everyone has a primary venue which will be discussed at interview. We have vacancies currently at 6 of our pools – Bellahouston, Scotstoun, Tollcross, Springburn, Gorbals and Maryhill.

Important Dates: Closing date 19th January and interviews are provisionally scheduled for w/c 27th January.

The selection process for this role is a two step process. The first step will be a swim test to assess your swimming ability. If you are successful in the swim test, you will move on to a competency based interview immediately following the swim test.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme will be essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above position will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.
