An opportunity has arisen within Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability for a CCTV Operator/Chargehand to join our Public Space CCTV service on a permanent basis. NRS brings together a diverse range of Glasgow City Council operational, technical and development services that focus on sustainable transport, place making and delivering essential city services.

What the job involves:

Based within the Glasgow Operations Centre (GOC), our Public Space CCTV team manage 420 public space cameras across the city, working with internal Council departments and agencies including Traffcom (Traffic Management), Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue, and the Clean Glasgow Initiative. This partnership working supports the daytime and nighttime economy in Glasgow and aims to help make our city safer for all citizens. The CCTV Operator/Chargehand provides day-to-day support to the CCTV Supervisor, and when the Supervisor is off will provide supervisory cover for a team of Operators on a shift rota to ensure the delivery of the Public Space CCTV service in accordance with set policies, procedures and guidelines, to maintain safe and secure communities across the city.

What we’re looking for:

  • You must have good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Previous experience of working within a CCTV control room environment.
  • Knowledge of CCTV incident management systems.
  • Previous supervisory experience is desirable, but not essential.
  • An SIA CCTV licence is an essential requirement for this job.

What we’re offering:

A core salary starting at £27,687.08 rising to £32,622.40 on an incremental scale. In addition to the annual salary, the job attracts an annual payment of £2,768.71 - £3,262.24 for contractual overtime and an annual non-standard hours (NSH) allowance of £5,518.15. The role will work on a 4 on, 4 off basis with a work pattern of two shifts at 7am – 7pm, two shifts at 7pm – 7am, followed by four rest days. Shift times are inclusive of a 1-hour unpaid break and equate to an average of 35 hours work per week plus 3.5 hours contractual overtime. An Annual leave entitlement which starts at 182 hours per year, rising to 203 hours after 5 years’ continuous service, plus an additional Public Holiday entitlement of 87.5 hours per year.

Enrolment in the Local Government Pension Scheme; the ability to join the Glasgow Credit Union, who offer a variety of loans, savings and mortgages exclusively for their members; and the ability to make direct contributions from your salary to the Hospital Saturday Fund who offer individual and family health plans.
