An opportunity has arisen within Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability for an Analyst to join our Scientific Services team on a permanent basis. NRS brings together a diverse range of Glasgow City Council operational, technical and development services that focus on sustainable transport, place making and delivering essential city services.

You will conduct microbiological testing on a wide variety of samples to ensure compliance with established specifications and regulatory requirements. You will have experience using both traditional microbiology techniques and Real Time PCR and will be part of the laboratory team carrying out microbiological testing on water and food products to specific SOP’s. You will implement microbiological testing protocols and standard operating procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results. You will ensure all quality control procedures are followed in compliance with ISO17025. You will assist with the investigation of deviations, non-conformities, and help to identify root causes of microbiological issues. You will be experienced in the analysis and interpretation of microbiological data. You must be enthusiastic and aware of microbiological trends, best practices, and regulatory changes impacting the industry. You will participate in method validation for new testing methods and technologies.

The Microbiology analyst will be responsible for ensuring that all samples received in the laboratory are correctly recorded and processed to client requirements within the appropriate time frame. You will assist in maintaining the laboratory accreditation to ISO 17025 by maintaining laboratory equipment in accordance with the Quality System. The ability to work on your own initiative and establish good relationships with other team members is essential and you must be capable of responding effectively to delegated responsibilities and working with minimum supervision. A minimum of an HNC/HND or equivalent qualification is essential for this role. The successful candidate would be expected to continue to expand their knowledge and show an aptitude in acquiring new skills.

Contract Details:

  • Weekly Hours: 35 hours
  • Work Pattern: Thursday to Monday
  • Annual Salary: £37,590.25 - £43,771.71 plus £1405 Non-Standard Working Payment
