An opportunity has arisen within Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability for an Advocacy Worker (C&YP) to join our ASSIST Service’s Children & Young Persons team on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2027, based on Scottish Government funding.

Established in 2004, ASSIST (Advocacy Support Safety Information Services Together) is a specialist domestic abuse court advocacy service that supports people whose partner, or ex-partner, has a domestic abuse case going through the criminal court. Whilst part of Glasgow City Council, ASSIST supports people in Argyll and Bute, Ayrshire (East, North, and South), Dumfries and Galloway, Glasgow, Dunbartonshire (East and West), Inverclyde, Lanarkshire, and Renfrewshire (including East Renfrewshire).

Our Advocacy Workers (C&YP) provide advocacy and support services to the children of survivors of domestic abuse who are referred to ASSIST following a domestic incident. They do this via pro-active, short to medium term, needs-based service within a multi-agency framework to young victims of domestic abuse, focusing on those at most risk.

An SCQF Level 7 qualification in a relevant field (domestic abuse, violence against women, social care, counselling, advocacy, social services, etc.) or a demonstrable proven track record of providing direct support to vulnerable individuals in crisis intervention is an essential requirement for this role. Having completed IDAA training is desirable.

Contract Details:

  • Weekly Hours: 35
  • Work Pattern: Monday - Friday, 9am – 5pm inclusive of a 1-hour unpaid break
  • Annual Salary: £37,947.88 - £45,609.62 on an incremental scale (due to increase by 3.5% from 1 April 2026)
  • This is a peripatetic role and could be based across any of the locations from which ASSIST deliver a service.
  • Additionally, hybrid working is available in this role (currently a maximum of 50% home working).

Key Pre-Employment Information:

The position requires membership to the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme (Vulnerable Adults & Children). The cost of membership, or scheme record update, will be met by the successful candidate(s). As part of the pre-employment checks for this post, the successful candidate(s) will have to undergo a Non-Police Personnel Vetting Level 2 check which assesses the honesty, integrity, reliability, and overall suitability for clearance of non-police personnel who have unsupervised physical and/or remote access to police premises, classified police information and/or intelligence, financial or operational assets, and/or police systems.
