Are you a passionate Swimming Teacher looking for flexible working hours within an established programme of lessons? Glasgow Life is looking for qualified Swimming Teachers to join our team on a permanent part-time basis. We are offering flexible weekday and evening contracts across our range of swimming pools.

As a Swimming Teacher, you will be part of a dedicated team responsible for delivering fun and exciting lessons to our Learn to Swim customers who range from Pre-School to Adults, Beginners to Improvers. Our positions cover our city-wide Learn to Swim venues meaning you could work in any of our venues delivering Swimming Lessons; examples of our current vacancies include:

  • Tuesday 3.40 – 8pm at Glasgow Club Pollok
  • Wednesday 3.40 – 8pm at Glasgow Club Scotstoun
  • Thursday 3.40 – 8pm at Glasgow Club Scotstoun/Bellahouston
  • Friday 3.40 – 8pm at Glasgow Club Tollcross/Maryhill
  • Saturday 8.40am-1pm at Glasgow Club Springburn/Gorbals
  • Sunday 8.40am-1pm at Glasgow Club Maryhill and 3.40 – 8pm at Glasgow Club Bellahouston/Tollcross

We offer a competitive salary ranging from £24,371.18 to £25,861.29 (pro-rata) per year which equates to approx. £13.40 to £14.20 per hour.

As a Swimming Teacher, you’ll be joining our Glasgow Life Sport team, playing your part in encouraging people to live an active Glasgow life. Through sport and physical activity, we promote inclusion and wellbeing throughout the city.

The Role: As a Swimming Teacher, you will be an invaluable part of our team and by using your skills and knowledge you will teach our members the invaluable life skill of swimming. You will report to the Swim Co-ordinators within our venues and work alongside an established team of teachers. Don’t worry if you are new to teaching or don't have a lot of experience; we can provide support from our Lead Teachers and Tutors who can help bring out the best in you!

The Candidate: If you’re interested in joining us as a Swimming Teacher, you’ll need the following essentials:

  • Scottish Swimming Teachers Qualification (SSTQ) OR UKCC Level 1 OR UKCC L2 Swim Teachers Qualification
  • Other qualifications may be considered if they are comparable to the above
  • Experience/knowledge and enthusiasm of working with children ages 4yrs and above in a group environment
  • Good communication skills and a flexible approach to work
  • The ability to work evenings and weekends to meet the needs of our core programme

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme will be essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above position will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.

Our city-wide contracts mean you will be flexible to work in any of our locations. We currently operate our lessons across 6 pools in Glasgow; Scotstoun, Tollcross, Springburn, Maryhill, Pollok and Gorbals with Bellahouston to be re-introduced as our 7th venue after summer. This role is to work within our evening & weekends programme where our shifts are Monday to Friday 3.40-8pm, Saturday 8.40am-1pm and Sunday 8.40am-1pm and 3.40-8pm. All our venues have great links to public transport and either free parking or parking nearby.
