Glasgow Life is looking for Assistant Managers to join us on a part time permanent contract. As an Assistant Manager, you will be joining our in-demand Sports Operations team, being part of a dedicated team which supports our Sports delivery across Glasgow. As an Assistant Manager, you'll be joining our Glasgow Life Sport team, playing your part in encouraging people to live an active Glasgow life. Through sport and physical activity, we promote inclusion and wellbeing throughout the city. From Glasgow Club to our Learn to Swim programmes, the services we provide allow people to experience the life-changing benefits of participating in sports at all levels.
What you need to know:
- Hours: Part Time role average 19.5 hours a week, 2-week shift pattern.
- Contract type: Part time permanent.
- Pay details: £17,262.99 per annum.
- Location: Your contract would be City-Wide but this post is primarily based at Glasgow Club Donald Dewar.
The Role:
- Assistant Managers are an integral member of the Sports Operations Management team working within our wet side & Glasgow Club venues driving income and footfall.
- Working directly with Assistant Cluster & General/Area Managers, Assistant Managers will ensure the delivery of the daily operation, safely, efficiently and to a high level of customer service.
- It is essential for post holders to be financially aware, lead the team in achieving sales and income targets, and ensure their venue is presented to the highest standards.
- Support Senior Management in the daily running of the venue, leading on all activities associated with a busy leisure centre.
- Manage team of staff, providing coaching and support enabling them to carry out their roles effectively.
- Understand pool plant operation and ensure the safe running of swimming pools and other wet side facilities.
- Work closely with the Health & Fitness team to continually improve Glasgow club facilities and services to meet customer needs and generate new memberships.
- Allocate duties and responsibilities within the team ensuring all work is completed to prescribed standards.
- Responsible for health & safety of the venue, ensuring all operational practices are compliant with health & safety policy and practices.
- Work with wider operations, sports development and external stakeholders to promote benefits of health & fitness and recreational activities.
- Work as part of a wider team in the delivery of a range of events.
- Lead on the implementation of shift rotas ensuring effective deployment to meet the demands of the venue.
- Management of sickness absence & act as chair in formal investigation processes.
- Lead by example to provide a team spirit & motivation across all staff.
- Ensure performance management process is embedded and carried out for all staff.
- Provide continuous customer interface dealing with enquiries, complaints & clarifying issues and providing an informed response.
- Liaising with internal and external customers and partners establishing effective working relationships.
- Play an effective role in the implementation & upkeep of Customer Service Excellence (CSE) Accreditation.
- Any other duties that are deemed appropriate to the grade and role.
Who you are:
- Previous experience of managerial/supervisory role.
- Evidence of effective leadership, including responsibility for staff management.
- Evidence of customer focus, demonstrating delivery of effective customer services.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Membership of PVG Group will be required.
