Glasgow Life is a charity focused on improving the lives of people in Glasgow. We are seeking a Senior Event Manager to join our Events team.
Hours, Contract, and Location
- Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am‑5pm.
- Contract type: Permanent.
- Location: Hybrid – work partly from home and partly at our office in Commonwealth House, 32 Albion Street, Glasgow.
What you’ll do
You’ll be a part of the Events team and report to the Senior Event and Operations Lead. Your role will involve working across a portfolio of event bidding, development and activation, collaborating with industry and partners to maximise benefits for the city and ensure strategic alignment with the Glasgow Event Strategy 2035.
Who you are / Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in a similar major‑events environment that covers event bidding, development and activation.
- Proven track record in project management and delivery of large‑scale internationally significant events and projects.
- Experience managing major events and/or projects with multiple partner organisations, including stakeholder management and reporting to City, National and international bodies.
- Experience in establishing governance, project planning, reporting and teams to deliver major events and projects.
- Lead responsibility for controlling budgets of £1 M or more.
- Excellent knowledge of and existing relationships with event‑industry partners, programmes and organisations.
- Excellent communication skills, including producing regular high‑quality reports and presentations for key stakeholders.
- Experience managing a team, including teams of at least four people.
- Ability to communicate and work in partnership with multiple internal and external stakeholders across hierarchies.
- Ability to write strategic and tactical reports for major events and projects.
- Ability to prioritise workload within a multi‑disciplined environment, meeting pre‑determined deadlines and ensuring accuracy and methodical work.
