Glasgow Life is a charity like no other. Our vision is to improve the lives of everyone in our city. To help us achieve that, we are looking for Glasgow Life Assistants (Libraries) to join our Community Libraries team.

Our teams focus on making a real difference through culture and sport in Glasgow. If you\'re excited by the idea of being part of that, this could be the job for you.

What you need to know

Hours: Contracts range from 12 hours to 22.5 hours per work. A range of shift patterns are available, with Saturday working included within all shifts between 10am to 5pm. Weekday shifts may be daytime or evening.

Contract type:

  • Permanent

Pay details: The listed salary is for a full-time role. If you\'re applying for a part-time or bank job, we will calculate your pay on a pro-rata basis. The hourly rate is £13.89 per hour.

Location:

  • City-wide, with your main base discussed at interview.

What you\'ll do

As a Glasgow Life Assistant (Libraries), you\'ll be a part of a frontline library operational team, reporting to the Community Services Supervisor. You\'ll play an essential role in providing a frontline service and by delivering programmes to a range of audiences within the library. Your work will make a visible and lasting difference. This could be:

  • Supporting our communities
  • Helping people get active
  • Creating cultural experiences
  • Or working behind the scenes to make it all happen

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to engage with and inspire a range of different audiences including children, young people & families.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, but also work to own initiative.
  • Proficient literacy and numeracy skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Ability to work on a flexible pattern of hours including weekend and evenings
  • Aptitude to work with children and young people
  • Be able to work in locations across the city
