Glasgow Life is looking for Glasgow Life Assistants with the Early Years, Children and Families Team to join us on 12 hours, part time, permanent contract. As Glasgow Life Assistant (EYC&F) you will be joining our in-demand Early Years, Children and Families Team. You will be part of a dedicated team which supports families and children through learning, physical activity, and creativity, contributing to health and wellbeing, providing positive experiences for all.

As a Glasgow Life Assistant (EYCF) you’ll be joining our Glasgow Life Libraries and Communities service. The service includes Glasgow’s 32 community libraries, the Mitchell Library, school libraries, community facilities, and services for early years, children and families, adult learning, inclusion and employability, and wellbeing, youth and community development. Libraries provide a cultural and creative place for all ages. They offer a place to read for pleasure and purpose, and collections which support literacy development. Glasgow's Libraries also have e-lending, author talks, book groups and festivals. People can access special collections as well as archives and family/local history. Libraries are also an important place where the digitally excluded can get online and access a range of resources. Community venues allow people to take part in a variety of cultural and sporting activities and also offer a range of learning and support services across the city. Our libraries and community facilities play a vital role in local communities and provide a wide range of programmes and activities

As a Glasgow Life Assistant (EYC&F) you’ll be an integral part of the team by contributing and delivering high quality early years, children and families programmes across the city providing play opportunities for children and families. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to work towards company, local and national goals. The Early Years, Children and Families team support families to engage in activities together, providing learning opportunities through fun and safe experiences. Early Years Children and Families programmes takes place in a variety of settings including community venues, libraries, Glasgow Club Sport venues uniformed groups, schools and on the streets, whilst using numerous approaches such as family play, Pre 5 Play, Post 5 Play, STEAM and outdoor play to engage with Children and Families.

Reporting to Libraries and Communities Officers and working alongside an established team.

The candidate

If you’re interested in joining us as a Glasgow Life Assistant (EYCF) you’ll need:

• Good interpersonal and communications skills

• Excellent customer service skills

• Ability to work weekends and evenings

• Previous play experience working with Pre 5 children, children aged 5 – 11 years and families

Our city-wide contracts mean you will be flexible to work in any of our locations.

Our area offices at Geoff Shaw Community Centre, Dennistoun Library and Drumchapel library has great links to public transport and free parking

This role is working in a variety of venues across Glasgow City, sample shift pattern could be:

Tues 2.30 – 5.30pm

Thurs 2.30 – 5.30 pm

Sat 9.30 – 4pm (including 30 min unpaid break)

Or

Mon 10 – 13.30am

Wed 2.30 -5.30pm

Sat 9.30 – 12.30pm

Sun 1.30- 4.30pm

These shifts are example shifts.
