Role – Social Worker (Older People and Primary Care Services)

Location – GCHSCP, Petershill Business Centre, 28 Adamswell Street ,Glasgow, G21 4DD

We are looking for qualified Social Workers who are committed to making a real difference to the lives of older people and adults.

Within Older People & Primary Care there is a significant transformation programme to ensure that we support adults with multiple and complex needs and older people with increasing levels of frailty to live as independently as possible. Older peoples services are fully integrated across the city in order ensure that we support older people and their families / carers as effectively as possible.

We have a large range of services that require to work effectively together in order to ensure that the most vulnerable within our City get the right service in the right place at the right time. We work in full partnership across both adult and older people’s services with our health colleagues and a broad range of partners and we have a key priority in relation to shifting the balance of care across both service areas and promoting more effective early intervention and preventative supports.

We are seeking energetic, talented, resilient and committed Social Workers to secure these outcomes. You will have sound knowledge of assessment and care management; have practiced extensively under the relevant legislation; and work in a person centred manner which will be fully embedded in your practice. You will be confident in managing risk and looking for innovative ways to promote independence and link people into the local community.

Applicants must possess a Degree / Diploma in Social Work. Attached to this advert is the Person Specification which details the qualifications, skills, knowledge and competencies that are required for this post. Applicants wishing to work part time hours can apply and if chosen for interview, must advise the Chair of the interview panel.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.

Registration to the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is an essential requirement for this role. You must either be already registered or have applied within 3 months and be registered within 6 months from your start date. Please note as part of the local government pay deal, local authority staff are currently not required to pay SSSC fees.

These roles are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).

Interviews are likely to take place week commencing 28th July 2025.
