Location – GCHSCP, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow Royal Infirmary
Contract Status – Temporary, up to 12 months

Glasgow is a thriving and vibrant city with excellent opportunities to join us and contribute towards helping all our neighbourhoods flourish. The Glasgow Health and Social Care Partnership is on a journey to radically change the way in which Social Work delivers support and services.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 x Qualified Social Workers to join our Citywide Hospital Social Work Team on a temporary basis. Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP) are embarking on implementing the Discharge Without Delay National programme and will seek collaboration with acute colleagues to maximise early referral and intervention from Social Work Services where appropriate.

You will be part of a team working across a range of professionals and organisations in acute and community settings. Our focus is on person-centred and timely discharge via a variety of discharge pathways with our first choice being a return home where possible. This role is challenging and fast paced with a number of service developments being implemented. We therefore are seeking energetic, talented, resilient and committed people to come and work with us.

To apply for this role, you should have sound knowledge of assessment and care management; have experience in both Adult Support and Protection and Adults With Incapacity legislation; and work in a person centred manner which will be fully embedded in your practice. You should be confident in managing risk and looking for innovative ways to promote independence and link people into the local community. You should also be committed to continuous professional development.

Applicants must either possess a Degree / Diploma in Social Work (or Social Work equivalent). Please refer to the Person Specification for full details of the required qualifications, skills, knowledge and competencies that are required for the above role.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership.

Registration to the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is an essential requirement for this role. You must either be already registered or have applied within 3 months and be registered within 6 months from your start date. Please note as part of the local government pay deal, local authority staff are currently not required to pay SSSC fees.

These roles are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).

Interviews will likely take place week commencing 11th August 2025.
