Job Description

Role – Social Care Worker (Homelessness Services)
Location – GCHSCP, HMP Barlinnie, 81 Lee Ave, Glasgow, G33 2QX
Contract Status – Temporary up to 31 March 2026

At Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP), our primary focus is to minimise the risk of people becoming homeless, through the provision of good quality housing option assessments, information and assistance.
As a Social Care Worker, you will work with colleagues across GCHSCP, Scottish Prison Service (SPS), voluntary and private sector partner agencies to achieve the aims of the Council\’s Rapid Rehousing and Transition Plan. Where homelessness cannot be prevented, you will take responsibility for the provision of statutory homelessness assessments in line with the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987 as amended, secure temporary accommodation, develop person centred care and support plans, provide risk assessments and put in place appropriate support services, and prioritise the provision of settled accommodation where required for people on release from prison.
The successful applicant should have experience in managing a demanding caseload and completing care and support assessments, enthusiastic, highly motivated, willing to learn within a changing environment, with strong communication skills and able to demonstrate an excellent approach to customer service gained through experience of working with the general public.
You should be educated to a SVQ Level 3/HNC or equivalent level or show a willingness to work towards this. Please refer to the Person Specification for full details of the required qualifications, skills, knowledge and competencies that are required for the above role.
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.
These roles are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
