The Directorateof School Professional Services provides support for three Academic Schools. The Directorate covers Registry, Technical Services and Administration teams. The position being offered is situated within the Technical Service (Health) and is embedded within the School of Health and Life Sciences. Our focus is to provide an outstanding service to all our stakeholders while supporting and enhancing the student experience through a 1 st class service.

We are seeking a dedicated Technical Assistant (Health) to support the teaching and learning activities within the School of Health and Life Sciences interprofessional Simulation Centre (ISC). In this role, you will work closely with Technicians to ensure the smooth operation of practical classes, simulation labs, and clinical learning environments.

The successful candidate will have an HNC in a technical related subject or relevant experience, experience of undertaking a range of technical support activities and manual handling as well as an understanding of relevant health and safety policies and procedures relative to role.

Ideally candidates will have a strong interest in healthcare education and have some hands-on experience in a technical support role as well as be enthusiastic about contributing to the high-quality delivery of GCU programmes in Nursing and Allied Health.

While working within a well-established team of technicians the role holder will be required to operate within established procedures and deliver support for the day to day operational needs of the ISC. In addition, you will ensure clinical areas are stocked with appropriate supplies and assist in the provision of clinical skills support. You will also undertake equipment loans and maintain relevant inventories.

Experience of nursing or some other health related role would be an advantage but is not essential as training will be given. General IT skills are essential.

As a Technical Assistant, you will also contribute to the development of a “one team” culture by embedding teamwork as part of your core ethics as well demonstrating commitment to the GCU values.
