The Sir Alex Ferguson Library at Glasgow Caledonian University is a state-of-the-art facility offering over 1,800 study spaces, free Wi-Fi, and 350 computers, designed to support both collaborative and individual study, fostering a vibrant learning environment.

We are seeking a Research and Information Systems Manager to support our research strategy, contribute to REF submissions, and manage the procurement, support, and maintenance of library research systems, including the University’s Current Research Information System (CRIS), Pure.

This role involves collaboration with staff across the University, including Research and Knowledge Exchange, IT, Impact Officers, Research Administrators, Associate Deans – Research, and senior managers.

The post works under the supervision of the Senior Librarian, Collections and Discovery, leading services such as:

  • Management and development of library research systems and services
  • Support for open access, research data management, and open education
  • CRIS system training and advocacy
  • Managing projects related to library and research systems, including REF support
  • Producing reports for strategic decision-making

The ideal candidate will hold a degree or postgraduate/professional qualification in a relevant field, with significant experience managing library systems, particularly the Pure system. Knowledge of the research environment in higher education, strong project management skills, excellent communication, and experience building networks are essential. Experience in open access management, research support, and metadata standards is required.
