We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Economics within the Department of Economics and Law. This maternity cover post is for a fixed term of 12 months. The Department offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and CPD programmes and modules covering both orthodox and heterodox Economics. Our research has a strong applied economic focus, as well as educational evaluation, and our commitment to student focused, innovative and flexible learning strategies is supported by our state-of-the-art facilities.
As a Lecturer in Economics, you will focus on providing high-quality learning and teaching that is underpinned by scholarly activity. We are recruiting a lecturer who has experience of developing and delivering high quality learning and teaching sessions in heterodox economics including:
- International trade policy
- International political economy
- Feminist economics
- Information and data interpretation
You will be able to evidence designing and delivery of innovative and appropriate approaches to learning and teaching which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students. Lecturers are expected to contribute to the delivery and assessment of existing modules, supervision, and the enhancement of the student experience across the range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
Prior experience of supporting student learning, teaching and assessment in higher education and/or within practice settings is essential. The Department promotes innovation in learning and teaching of heterodox economics and we are keen to appoint an individual ideally with experience of online learning environments. We particularly welcome candidates with an interest in digital education and the use of technology-enhanced learning in the delivery of heterodox economics.
The role will involve contributing to teaching, assessment, and supervision across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and to the wider enhancement of the student experience. Experience of supporting learning and assessment in a higher education and/or applied professional context is required. A higher education teaching qualification and/or Fellow status with AdvanceHE is desirable.
The post holders will also be expected to contribute to ensuring curricula are current and compliant with internal and external regulatory frameworks.
