Glasgow will host the 23rd edition of Commonwealth Games between 23 July and 2 August 2026. Approximately 3,000 athletes and team officials from up to 74 nations and territories across the Commonwealth will come together in a 11-day celebration of sport and culture. Events will take place across Glasgow, entertaining around 500,000 ticketed spectators and reaching a global broadcast audience of more than one billion.
Glasgow 2026 Limited, the Organising Company (the OC), is organising the Games along with the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) and Commonwealth Games Scotland (CGS). Each has key parts to play in the planning and delivery of the Commonwealth Games – individually and collectively – to ensure that Glasgow 2026 is a huge success.

We are seeking a visionary content strategist to join the Glasgow 2026 team as Head of Content, responsible for the creation, direction, and execution of dynamic Digital Experience and Content Creation Strategies for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. You will lead our online voice, digital aesthetic and social community as we build towards the Games.
This is a new role for an Organising Company, and you will work closely with Games partners such as the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), Governments and Glasgow City Council, Games Sponsors and Event Delivery Partners to maximise content creation opportunities across all aspects of the Games.
The successful postholder, will report to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, and will be able to demonstrate significant experience in a senior content leadership role, preferably in a consumer-facing role in sports, entertainment, or major events sectors. In addition, the Head of Content should have exceptional creative vision, strong leadership and people management skills, and in-depth knowledge of digital channels, social media trends, and content marketing strategies.
Job Summary:
The Head of Content will build a network of highly engaged digital audiences and drive acquisition and retention of online audiences to secure their support for the Games and convert them into physical spectators and TV audiences. You will lead the development of innovative storytelling, ensuring the Games’ vision, values, and global profile are communicated effectively across a range of channels, and be committed to showcasing Scotland on the international stage as well as delivering excellence for athletes and local communities.
Leading a small creative team who design, edit, produce, and deliver exceptional content across social media, digital platforms, email, web, and influencer channels, you will possess the blended skills of a strategic planner, creative maker, digital creator, and innovative thinker.
Education:
The Head of Content should have 7 plus years’ experience, in this area at a senior level or hold a tertiary qualification in marketing or a related discipline.

The successful candidate will have exceptional creative vision, with a track record of delivering impactful and engaging content across multiple platforms.

In addition, the successful candidate should also display strong leadership credentials and have previous experience of leading a team. Relationship building is key for this role and experience of influencing senior internal and external stakeholders essential.
