The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Arrivals & Departures Protocol Deputy Manager to join the Games Services team and play a key role in welcoming Games Family members to Glasgow 2026. Acting as one of the first points of contact for dignitaries, Commonwealth Sport representatives and key Games stakeholders, you’ll help create a positive and memorable arrival experience that reflects the warmth, professionalism and hospitality of Glasgow and Scotland. Based at Glasgow Airport, you’ll work closely with our Arrivals & Departures delivery partner to ensure Games Family arrivals are managed smoothly and efficiently. From coordinating arrivals and supporting onward transport arrangements to resolving issues and responding to changing operational requirements, you’ll help ensure every guest receives a seamless and professional experience from the moment they arrive. Collaboration will sit at the heart of the role as you work alongside volunteers, Commonwealth Sport colleagues, operational teams and delivery partners. Leading a small team within a fast-paced environment, you’ll help maintain high service standards throughout extended operating hours while ensuring information, updates and operational issues are communicated effectively across the wider Games operation.

Job Summary

Joining Glasgow 2026 as an Arrivals & Departures Protocol Deputy Manager offers the opportunity to play an important role in delivering world-class Games services for a key client group. Strong leadership, communication and customer service skills will be essential as you support the arrival and transfer of Games Family members throughout the Games period. Day-to-day responsibilities will include coordinating volunteer rotas, overseeing airport arrival operations, supporting transfer arrangements and responding to operational challenges as they arise. A calm and proactive approach will be important, particularly when managing changing priorities, resolving issues at pace and ensuring guests receive a consistently high-quality experience. Success in this role will come from your ability to lead with confidence, build positive working relationships and make sound decisions within a dynamic operational environment. Most importantly, you’ll help ensure visitors leave Glasgow Airport with a positive first impression of Glasgow 2026, the city and Scotland.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Confidence to engage professionally with senior leaders, dignitaries and guests from a wide range of cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Previous experience within customer-facing, hospitality, events, transport, protocol or guest services environments would be highly beneficial.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, alongside the capability to assess situations quickly, prioritise issues effectively and deliver solutions within a fast-paced operational setting.
  • Experience leading or coordinating teams would be advantageous, particularly where high standards of service and operational delivery have been required.
  • A collaborative and resilient approach will help you succeed in this role, as will the ability to remain calm under pressure and motivate others throughout extended operating periods.
  • Local knowledge of Glasgow and its geography would be beneficial, supporting your ability to provide advice, guidance and assistance to arriving guests.
